Moving house using your own transport is usually cheaper than hiring a removal firm, provided you choose the right van and plan the day carefully. Below you’ll find prices, advice on which vehicle to choose for which type of flat, and a list of things worth sorting out before you collect the van.

How much does it cost to hire a van for a house move?

At Slawa Rent, large delivery vans, that is to say Renault Master i Peugeot Boxer, they cost from 350 zł per night plus extras. For longer stays, the nightly rate is reduced. We’ll give you the exact price when you book, before you sign anything. We charge a refundable deposit.

By way of comparison, according to the price lists of removal companies and hire firms, in 2026 a small van usually costs around 180–250 zł per day, a medium-sized one 250–350 zł, and a large one 350–400 zł. Hiring a minibus with a driver costs several hundred zlotys more per day.

When comparing offers, check not only the price per night, but also:

a mileage limit and a charge for each kilometre in excess of the limit,
the amount of the deposit,
Is third-party liability insurance and comprehensive insurance included in the price,
Do you return the car with a full tank?

Which van should I choose for my move?

Renault Master or Peugeot Boxer: a 2- or 3-bedroom flat

These are the largest delivery vans you can drive on a Category B driving licence. The Renault Master has around 13–15 m³ of load space and a payload of up to 1,500 kg, whilst the Peugeot Boxer has around 13 m³. They can accommodate the contents of a typical 2–3-bedroom flat, often in just one or two trips.

Renault Master 10-pallet or tarpaulin: a bigger home or a business

It’s ideal for moving house or office Renault Master 10-pallet or Renault Master with a tarpaulin cover, which makes it easier to load tall and long items.

Fiat Doblo: a studio flat, a room in a hall of residence, a few boxes

If you mainly transport cardboard boxes, small items of furniture and household appliances, that’s enough Fiat Doblo. It’s easier to park in town, and hire costs less.

How can you quickly estimate the space you need?

a studio flat without any large pieces of furniture: a Fiat Doblo or two trips in a small car,
2–3-room flat: Renault Master or Peugeot Boxer,
a house or a large flat: a Renault Master with a 10-pallet capacity, or several trips.

Measure your largest pieces of furniture, such as a wardrobe, a sofa and a fridge. If you’re not sure whether they’ll fit, give us a call and let us know the dimensions.

Is a Category B driving licence sufficient to drive a removal van?

Yes. All our delivery vans have a maximum authorised mass of up to 3.5 tonnes, so you can drive them with a standard Category B driving licence. Just bear in mind that a large van is taller and longer than a car. Watch out for low entry points to underground garages and car parks.

What documents are needed?

a valid Category B driving licence,
an identity card or passport,
a payment card for the deposit.

Please book at least 24 hours in advance; at the end of the month and during the summer holidays, it’s best to book a few days in advance. That’s when most people are moving house. You can pay by cash, card or bank transfer. The cars are covered by third-party liability and comprehensive insurance, as well as 24/7 breakdown assistance.

How should you prepare for a move by van?

Pack small items into boxes of the same size. It’s easier to stack them on top of one another.
Take the large pieces of furniture apart and label the bags containing the screws.
Book a parking space near the block of flats at both locations.
Arrange for some helpers to carry things at a specific time.
Place heavy items at the bottom and close to the cabin; place lighter items at the top.
Secure your load with straps so that nothing shifts when cornering.

Travelling abroad in our coach is possible within the European Union, subject to prior notification and additional insurance. Please mention this when booking so that we can prepare the necessary documents.

Our office is in Wadowice, at 1 Błonie Street. You can collect the van from our office or arrange for it to be delivered to an address of your choice in Wadowice, Kraków and the surrounding area.
